Special features of the organization

The Burdwan Gramin Silpa Samity is being implemented by silk khadi and muslin khadi production. The Burdwan Gramin Silpa Samity is a registered under West Bengal Societies Registration Act,1961 and certified by Khadi and V.I.Commission (Govt of India). The Samity is engaged in the development programme in the khadi sector with cotton, silk products etc. with view to creating employment opportunities in rural and backward area of Burdwan District. The samity is engaged to make skill artisans in the rural areas of the district. During the financial year 2015-16 the samity has paid wages Rs6.00 lakh to the 60 artisans. The total silk and muslin khadi production was fixed in the year Rs38.00 lakh and achieved Rs37.00 lakh. The Whole sale and Retail sale has been achieved Rs20.00 lakh and Rs12.00 lakh respectively. The samity has also provied training facilities to artisans.
