Special features of the organization
Association for Social Health in India (ASHI) Birbhum Branch, Pusparag Niketan, Rampurhat, Nischintapur is one of the premier voluntary organisation established in 1993 by the eminent Social worker and freedom fighter Dr. Phulrenu Guha and Maya Ghosh to combat against immoral trafficking and other exploitation and atrocities against the women and girls in society. , This organisation has been running a Short-Stay-Home since May, 1993 under the Grant-in-Aid scheme of The Central Social Welfare Board, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India and affiliated by the Association for Social Health in India, West Bengal Branch, Kolkata. It is social welfare, non-profitable and non-Govt. organization , Pusparag Niketan Short-Stay-Home is a temporary shelter for women and girls in the age group of 15-35 yrs, who are victims of social and family atrocities, family mal-adjustment, discord or any in moral danger. It has considerably helped such vulnerable women and girls who are coming from weaker section of the society and different Govt. corners through Court, Local & District Administration etc. , There women can stay for three years for free of cost boarding, lodging, clothing, medical treatment, protection and are helped in build-up their future through well equipped vocational trainings and employment as per their capabilities and are assisted by the key staffs of Home. , The day-to-day affairs of the Home are being managed by the key staffs of Home. , Home Committee/Home Management Committee of Short-Stay-Home is being formed amongst the members of the Executive Committee, Govt. Officers and key staffs of this Home , Every year the members, staffs and inmates are being observed the national programmes i.e. Independence Day on 15th August and The Republic Day on 26th January with national songs. We also celebrated International Women s Day on 8th March. , There is a part-time medical Doctor, who visits once in a week, medically checked the inmates and prescribed them with necessary medicines. After admission of all inmates we made necessary arrangement for VDRL/HIV test from Rampurhat Health District Hospital at Rampurhat. We also provide Psychiatric treatment of our mentally challenged inmates at Suri Sadar Hospital Birbhum with help of the Addl. District Magistrate (Dev.) and the Sub-Divisional Officer Rampurhat Birbhum. , , This Home provides different trainings regularly in tailoring, knitting, embroidery etc free of cost within this Home campus under care of the trained instructors. We also provides six months vocational tailoring training out side the Home under WB State Council of technical and Vocational Education & Skill Development, Karigori Bhavan, New Town, Rajarhat, Kolkata and also the few inmates are attending College and School regularly. , , The Home has also provided daily newspaper. There is a local cable connection T.V. Ludo etc. and also arranged picnic and tour every year for recreation of the Home residents.
