AGNISH

AGNISH, a theatre group, was found on 13th November 2005 with a dream to breathe in a beautiful society, a well decorated environment where people from all cast and creed live happily, cheerfully and peacefully. Some young theatre lovers who want to say something about themselves, about their society through theatre are the members of Agnish. Agnish wants to befriend everyone with theatre. PRODUCTION OF PLAYS: Agnish has produced 6 full length plays and 7 short plays which have received wide appreciation from the press and the audience. To celebrate the bicentennial birth anniversary of Derozio, Agnish has produced the play JHAR written by Utpal Dutta. PERFORMANCES: Agnish regularly performs their shows in different places of West Bengal and nearby states. Agnish participated in the festivals organized by Department of Culture, West Bengal. Agnish has also performed their show on invitation from Easter Zonal Cultural Centre. THEATRE IN EDUCATION: To provide scientific education on theatre to the children Agnish has established AGNISH NATYA NIKETAN. We have got a number of 50 children who are keenly interested to take this opportunity. Agnish conducts regular theatre workshops for youth to concentrate them in different theatre activities. SEMINAR: Agnish regularly organizes seminars as a part of its research project on the important cultural events to educate and enlighten the theatre workers and theatre lovers. FESTIVALS: During the last 2 years, Agnish organizes theatre festivals AGNISH NATYA SAMMELAN to coordinate and establish common bonding with the groups and obviously with the theatre lovers of our locality. AWARDS: For excellence in production, Agnish has received many awards in full length plays competitions and in short play competitions as best production, best director and best actors. ACHIEVEMENTS: Beside overwhelming support from the audiences, Agnish has received grants from MoC, Govt. of India which have helped us in a great way to flourish more.
