Research and Field Work

Asia Society Policy Institute in Delhi – a division of the Asia Society India Centre, is looking for a Carbon Market Research Assistant to support the implementation of ASPI’s projects to develop India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) and other climate policies. The Research Assistant will primarily be responsible for building, updating, and maintaining a relevant research database.

This is a full-time position for three years, with the potential for extension.
 

Primary Responsibilities include

 

  • Conduct desk research relevant to the Indian Carbon Market and Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS), and Indian climate and energy policy, power market and just energy transition, as well as Emissions Trading System (ETS) development across Asia, under the direction of the Assistant Director, Climate, ASPI Delhi;
  • Assist with the coordination of meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences on these topics, under the direction of the Assistant Director, Climate, ASPI Delhi, including providing logistical and organizational support;
  • Assist in drafting high-quality documents, briefs, and short papers related to project deliverables;
  • Build and manage a database to track key project stakeholders in India, Asia, and internationally;
  • Provide administrative support for Indian climate policy projects;
  • Provide support on updating administrative systems, and tracking project progress under the direction of the Assistant Director, Climate, ASPI Delhi;
  • Provide support for ASPI Delhi roundtables and events as needed and assigned;
  • Other duties, as assigned.
     

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated experience in data collection, organization and table/graphic presentation.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated interest in India’s climate and energy policy, carbon market development, and emission trading systems.
  • Experience with assessment and development of emissions trading systems and GHG emissions data a plus.
  • Experience in developing high quality and impactful written products.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Motivated and responsible team player, able to work independently and to strict deadlines.
