About Job Profile

Project Management/Coordination

Dakshin Foundation invites applications from suitable, highly motivated candidates for the position of Programme Associate in the Elasmobranch biology and conservation project under the Marine Flagships programme. The position is a field-based role and involves overseeing the project including data collection at landing centers, liaising with stakeholders, managing data, statistical analysis and report writing. The Programme Associate will work independently but also coordinate with the field team in Ramanathapuram. This is a one-year position with potential for extension on the basis of performance and mutual fit.Theposition requires an independent, dynamic, enterprising and organised individual to fulfill the following responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities include

 

  • Initiate an elasmobranch monitoring project in Tamil Nadu.
  • Develop research ideas on elasmobranch biology and conservation in Tamil Nadu.
  • Implement the long-term monitoring protocol of Elasmobranchs at field sites in Tamil Nadu.
  • Liaise with various government authorities to obtain permits for conducting field work.
  • Coordinate and work with other programmes and personnel at the field site as part of cross-programmatic collaborative projects and initiatives.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative skills are required.
  • Strong coordination and people management skills is required.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Tamil (written and spoken).
