Navi Mumbai, August 24, 2023. Walplast Welfare Foundation, the CSR arm of DryChem India Pvt Ltd Group of companies, has taken a significant stride in promoting quality education for over 800 underprivileged girls by partnering with Project Nanhi Kali. The collaboration's focus is to empower girls across India with education, enabling them to transcend regressive social norms and realize their educational aspirations. Project Nanhi Kali, established by Anand Mahindra in 1996, has been steadfast in providing comprehensive assistance to economically and socially disadvantaged girls enrolled in government schools throughout India. Spanning two decades, the project has positively impacted more than 550,000 girls, affectionately referred to as "Nanhi Kalis". across 15 states in India.
Speaking about the partnership, Shri Kaushal Mehta, Managing Director of Drychem, stated, " We firmly believe that education is a powerful tool for driving positive change in society. Together, we aspire to create a positive impact in the lives of these underprivileged girls by reducing dropout rates, improving learning outcomes, promoting regular attendance, raising awareness among families and local communities about the importance of girls' education and bridging the gender gap in education.”
The collaboration entails:
- Academic Support Centres: Local women learning facilitators engage the girls in interactive and concept-based learning.
- Personalized EdTech Learning Platform: Utilizing artificial intelligence, this adaptive platform tailors instruction to each girl's learning level, ensuring effective comprehension and meaningful learning. The platform is accessible through digital tablets.
- Sports Curriculum: A professionally designed curriculum to foster holistic development.
- Annual School Supplies Kit: Girls in secondary school receive a comprehensive kit containing school essentials, rain gear, stationery, and feminine hygiene materials.
- Community Engagement and Parent Sensitization: Strengthening ties between the community, parents, and education.
Through this partnership, Walplast Products Pvt. Ltd. is steadfastly supporting the education of over 800 NanhiKalis, encompassing girls in both primary and secondary schools, until March 31, 2024. These girls hail from Palghar (Maharashtra), Bharuch (Gujarat), Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), and Nashik (Maharashtra).
