New Delhi, October 11, 2023: Uber, one of India's prominent ride-hailing services, has introduced the Uber Scholar initiative on its 10th anniversary in India to provide educational support to the children of the driver community. This initiative goes beyond Uber's platform and is accessible to drivers affiliated with various companies in Delhi NCR and Bangalore.
Through the Uber Scholar initiative, Uber is offering support to 1000 children, from primary to post-graduation levels, by covering their tuition fees and providing essential online devices and tools for academic success. In addition to celebrating its 10-year presence in India, Uber also paid tribute to its top 100 driver partners in appreciation events held across 10 cities. Uber presented e-learning devices to the children of these highly-rated drivers to facilitate their educational pursuits in an increasingly digital world.
Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, said, "Uber's 10-year celebration is incomplete without our drivers and for us it's not just about looking back at our collective achievements but also about giving back to the communities we serve. We believe that every child deserves access to education and through this initiative, we aim to bridge the gap and do our bit in offering better opportunities to all.”
While Uber continues to expand its operations in India, it also aims specifically at providing driver partners with improved access to financial support, health insurance, medical consultations, and educational opportunities.
