Mumbai, July 16, 2025: Siemens Limited and Tata STRIVE have announced that their collaborative Dual Vocational Education and Training (VET) programme has reached a significant milestone, having impacted over 120,000 students across 279 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in India over the past eight years.

The Dual VET model, adapted from Germany’s vocational training approach, aims to bridge the gap between academic instruction and industry requirements. It focuses on equipping ITI instructors with modern pedagogical tools while also engaging local industries to provide in-plant training opportunities for trainees.

Sunil Mathur, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Limited, said, “At Siemens, our commitment to corporate social responsibility is deeply rooted in our mission to drive sustainable progress and we have identified three focus areas – education, social and environment. Our initiatives not only aim to reduce our environmental footprint but also empower communities through education and innovation. The Company’s CSR projects are long-term in nature and designed to create sustainable value for society, which is evident in the impact created so far.”

The collaboration began in 2017 with the goal of modernizing the ITI ecosystem and making vocational training more relevant to evolving industrial needs.

S. Ramadorai, Chairman of the Advisory Board at Tata STRIVE, said, “ITIs are a vital pillar of India’s skilling ecosystem and central to our national missions such as Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. Strengthening ITIs has been a core priority in our efforts to create meaningful pathways from training to employment. The collaboration between Siemens and Tata STRIVE is a great example of what sustained partnership can achieve. This model is not only scalable, but also absolutely a necessity and a powerful demonstration of how industry participation can transform vocational training in the country.”

Ameya Vanjari, Chief Operating Officer, Tata STRIVE, added, “This is strengthening the ITI ecosystem by bringing industry closer to trainees. We are proud and delighted that this joint initiative has made a positive difference to 120,000 young trainees so far. By driving systematic changes within ITIs, we aim to ensure that this impact is not just momentary but sustained and scaled for years to come.”

The programme equips ITI instructors with inquiry-based and project-based teaching methods while connecting trainees with local industry for hands-on practical experience. This two-pronged approach is designed to improve employability outcomes and create a skilled workforce aligned with the needs of modern industry.

Siemens Limited and Tata STRIVE reaffirmed their commitment to continue strengthening India’s vocational education landscape and to build a sustainable pipeline of industry-ready talent through structured partnerships and scalable models.
