New Delhi, January 17, 2024: RPG Group, a leading Indian business conglomerate, has pledged to plant one million trees by 2030. The initiative, in collaboration with 1t.org, a Geneva-based World Economic Forum platform, aims to contribute to the global goal of conserving, restoring, and growing 1 trillion trees by 2030.

RPG Group plans to carry out this tree plantation drive across its operational areas in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Rajasthan.

The conglomerate, committed to sustainable growth, emphasizes efficiency improvements in factories, reduced energy consumption in offices, and the development of greener products and infrastructure.

The reforestation initiative involves active participation from RPG employees across the group's companies, with RPG Foundation, the CSR arm, leading the restoration drive. The goal is to not only increase the number of trees but also bring benefits to both the community and the environment.

This commitment aligns with 1t.org's mission to accelerate nature-based solutions in support of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030). RPG Group's nature-positive approach is reflected in specific actions across its diverse business entities, including CEAT Ltd's vision to reduce carbon footprint, KEC International's commitment to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions, and Zensar Technologies' target to achieve Net Zero GHG emissions.

Anant Goenka, Vice Chairman of RPG Group shared, "We are committed to sustainable growth. This tree conservation, restoration and growth drive is a testament to our dedication to environmental conservation and our contribution to the reforestation efforts of the World Economic Forum. It's not merely a pledge to grow a million trees; it's a promise to contribute to a cleaner and greener tomorrow for all."

Radha Goenka, CEO, RPG Foundation said, "In keeping with RPG Foundation’s longstanding commitment to philanthropy, particularly in addressing authentic community needs, we are proud to announce a strategic alignment of our philanthropic initiatives with RPG’s sustainability efforts. Our initiatives have historically been geared towards addressing genuine needs and fostering happier communities.”

RPG Group and its companies are driving positive environmental change by setting ambitious goals toward carbon neutrality, water circularity, and creating a green supply chain. The conglomerate remains dedicated to sustainability initiatives, shaping a future where sustainability is not just a choice but a way of being, extending its impact beyond industry standards.
