New Delhi, October 16, 2023: Relaxo Footwear Limited handed over 38 renovated government schools to the School Management Committees (SMC) and the Education Department. The infrastructure upgradation of these schools was carried out under the Parivartan Model School Project in 2022-2023. Of the renovated schools, 35 are under Khanpur block and 3 are under Laksar block of Haridwar district. The official handing over was done at an event organised on October 10th.
The chief guest for the event was Bansidhar Tiwari (IAS), State Project Director–Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand. Dr. Mukul Kumar Sati, Additional State Project Director–Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand and Sushil Batra, Chief Financial Officer–Relaxo Footwears Limited were present as special guests.
Gambhir Agrawal, Head CSR–Relaxo, gave a brief introduction about all the project activities starting with 13 government schools in phase 1 of the project and as of date a total of 104 (phase 1 to phase 4) government schools of Haridwar district.
He stated that 89 new toilet blocks were constructed in 51 schools. Building as a learning aid (BALA) was also incorporated and the designs were installed across the entire school premises. Apart from this, various trainings, meetings, and sensitizing sessions were also organized with/for teachers, the School Management Committee (SMC) members, students, parents, and the community.
Chief Guest Mr. Tiwari highlighted the significance of physical infrastructure and stressed the importance of community involvement in schools. He encouraged parents to take an active interest in their children's education, highlighting the role of teachers and parents in shaping the future of the country.
The event was also graced by Ms. Deepti Yadav- BEO Khanpur, Mr. J.P. Kala- BEO Laksar, Mr. Tomar- BEO Bahadrabad, Mr Gambhir Agrawal- CSR Head- Relaxo, Mr. B.P Mandoli- Staff Officer- Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand, Mr. Vijay Thapliyal- Coordinator- Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand, Mr. Neeraj Awasthi- Unit Head Relaxo Haridwar, Mr. Anil Dhiman, Mr. Sunil Dimri – Relaxo Haridwar, Mr. Jaiveer Kaushal, CSR Coordinator, Haridwar, Mr. Sudhir Uniyal, Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha, Haridwar.
The event was attended by PRI members, teachers, SMC members, parents, ESG members and the people of various villages. And education kit was gifted to all the students present at the event. The same kit would be distributed all the students enrolled in 77 schools under the first three phases of the project.
