Chandigarh, July 05, 2025: Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), in collaboration with NGO Save The Quest, has launched the Scribe Bank Project—a new initiative aimed at supporting visually impaired students with accessible learning resources, including trained scribes, academic assistance, and learning aids.

The launch event was held at the IOCL Punjab State Office in Chandigarh and was attended by senior IOCL officials including Shri Asutosh Gupta, Executive Director and State Head, IOCL Punjab State Office; Mr. Arif Akhter, General Manager (CSR), IOCL; and department heads from the corporation. Mr. Saif Ahmad Khan, Founder of Save The Quest, also joined the ceremony.

The Scribe Bank Project aims to address the significant barriers faced by visually impaired students during exams and regular classes due to the lack of accessible academic support. The initiative will maintain a verified database of volunteers and trained scribes who will be matched with students in need, creating a structured and efficient support system.

“Education is the fundamental right of every individual, and our mission is to ensure that no child is denied this right because of a disability. With the Scribe Bank, we are not just offering help—we are restoring dignity, confidence, and independence to students who are otherwise marginalized. This collaboration with IOCL strengthens our resolve and ability to reach more lives,” said Mr. Saif Ahmad Khan, Founder, Save The Quest.

The launch coincides with Save The Quest’s 12th anniversary. Since its founding in 2013, the NGO has worked extensively to promote inclusive education and support children and youth with disabilities through mentorship, academic resources, and employment opportunities.

IOCL, known for its wide-ranging CSR efforts in education, healthcare, women empowerment, and environment, views the Scribe Bank Project as part of its broader commitment to inclusive development.

Both organizations plan to expand the Scribe Bank model across states and educational institutions, integrating technology and institutional partnerships to reach more students in the coming years.
