New Delhi, 11 January 2022: Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI), an Indian global Information technology solutions and Services Company based in Mumbai, has spent Rs 32.77 crore on various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in the financial year 2020-21. Along with the CSR obligation of Rs 32.62 crore, the company has managed to spend additional Rs 15 lakh.
The average net profit of the company for the past three years was Rs 1631.20 crore. Its CSR obligation for the FY 21 calculated as two percent of average net profit of the past three years amounted to Rs 32.62 crore. The company had Rs18 crore for set off from previous years, therefore the total CSR obligation was Rs. 14.62 crore. The amount spent on administrative overheads this year was Rs 70 lakh.
The annual report of the company stated, “Our CSR activities are focused around the areas of education, empowerment and environment, which our dedicated CSR team undertake in association with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) engaged in the respective fields to have deeper impact. We also encourage employee volunteerism to create a social chain.”
Through its 1Step CSR program, LTI’s CSR programs were focused on Relief and Response, Building Resilience, and Virtual Volunteering. Its CSR activities includes as many as 1,26,649 CSR beneficiaries and 4,420 employee volunteers.
Relief and Response from LTI
- Contributed toward Covid Relief - oxygen plants at government and trust run hospitals across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu
- Awareness sessions on COVID protocol, Arogya Setu application, registration for vaccination across our CSR programs
- Ensured children got nutrition in the absence of mid-day meals that were being provided during school hours
- Assistance to specially-abled youth to enable them to register for vaccination
Building Resilience
- Engaged migrant labor who have lost their job due to the pandemic and moved back to villages
- Enhanced livelihood opportunities for migrant laborers who had returned to their villages during COVID-19
- Supported dabbawallas in Mumbai whose livelihood were affected due to the lockdown
Virtual Volunteering
- LTI employees volunteered to conduct virtual learning sessions and quizzes for children, as schools remain closed due to the pandemic
- Volunteers conducted COVID safety norms awareness and sessions on responsible use of technology for students
- Soft skills, communications and mock interview sessions to enable youth to secure jobs
“In FY21, owing to the new normal, our CSR efforts were structured to provide digital and experiential learning environment conducive for students at home. We ensured its delivery to remote parts of the country by using technology-based solutions. Experimental learning platforms helped students to prepare science and technology-based projects for responding to COVID-19 situation and resolve community issues. Support of Happiness Kits made a big difference for the students as well as the community since meals were distributed to the households due to closure of schools,” stated the annual report of the company.
