PBMA S H. V. Desai Eye Hospital is a project of Poona Blind Men s Association. , It is a center committed to socio economic rehabilitation of blind since last 60 years. , PBMA S H. V. Desai Eye Hospital was established in year. So far we have examined 30.99 lacs cases and operated 4.38 lacs cases. , Majority of these patients 60% are treated absolutely free and rest are charged nominal charges. It has always been our endeavor to ensure that we keep pace with advance in equipment and techniques so that we provide best service. These patients not only have good quality of vision but also have a gainful employment. , a) Provide comprehensive quality eye care without discrimination, between free and payment Cases. , b) Reach out program in the area up to 350 km from hospital. , c) To provide free treatment to more than 60 % cases. , d) To impart postgraduate and paramedical training. , e) Research center to promote research projects. , f) To develop super specialty services in Cornea, Vitreo Retina, Medical Retina, Glaucoma & Pediatric Ophthalmology, Oculoplasty and Low Vision. , g) To develop Ocular Surface Management Institute , h) To develop Community Ophthalmology Institute , The hospital has the following facilities: , 200 Indoor beds , 10 Private rooms. , 2 Private wards. , Private OPD for paying patients. , Separate OPDS for free and paying patients as well as specialty OPDS. , Medical Retina Units with double frequency Yag Laser, AB Scan, Fundus Camera (Digital) with FA facilities. , Glaucoma screening unit with automated perimeter and Heidelberg HRT 11 , Community Ophthalmology Institute. , Strabismus & Pediatric Ophthalmology. , Cornea and EYE banking services , Oculoplasty service , Low Vision Clinic. , Pathology Lab services , , The hospital has expertise of performing topical (no injection, no pad, no suture) small incision surgery and Phaco surgery with non-foldable and foldable lens. We are also conducting squint correction, glaucoma surgery, pediatric cataract and oculoplasty surgeries including vitreoretina, keratoplasty.
