Special features of the organization

Macbeth Drama took it inception in the year 1994 in consequence of an untiring endeavour of a few play lovers of Dhemaji both veteran and novice, having considerable experience in the concerned field of study and operation. It aims at enriching the Assamese culture through proper presentation, research and expansion of various ethnic group of Assam and has worked to his end since the very beginning. In particular it has continued its effort to bring modern drama to the common people by way of dramatic presentation of tribal folk traditions of a few linguistic communities such as the Misings, the Kacharies, the Deories as well as the Lalungs which are aboriginal sub-tribes of Assam. It has been holding Karmashalas and training programs and has tried to draw out pure connoisseurs of the respective area of learning. Till date Macbeth Drama has made the stage performance of more than sixty (60) dramas. Moreover it has made dramatic versions of one novel, three short stories and four folk tales and has staged them well. It has also made the necessary arrangements of for imparting short term training to twenty five trainees at National School of Drama, New Delhi and organized 45 days intensive theater workshop in auspice of National School of Drama, New Delhi an in collaboration with Jirsong Theater, Assam. A few of the notable plays that Macbeth Drama has staged successfully are Swapna Amaar Surujmukhi Phool , Chandita Gaadyat Epiyala Madya Athabaa Ati Padya Athaba Nabyadya , Nyay-Nishthaa (Assamese version of Les Justes of Albert Camus), Mrs. Adis , Jarou Rua Parja , Saat Saaudar Chenehi Bhani , Tejimala , Miri Jiyari , Labhita , Gaonloi Jaon , Kaanchamotir Bihad Gatha and Bhaal Paau Aakaahar Meghar Dhemali , Chandra Kanta , Joymoti . Moreover the group independently organized a theater festival in 2011.
