Is it possible to reverse the damage human beings have done to the Nature, asks a video shared by actor and producer Aamir Khan. This video captures the work done by Aamir’s Paani Foundation, which has done an extraordinary job of turning a barren land into a thick forest in a very short period of time.

Shared from his social networking accounts, the video goes on to ask that can a bare patch of land be turned into a thick forest that too within two years. Subsequent to these questions, it explains how an initiative by Paani Foundation has done wonders by converting a barren land of drought prone Maharashtra into a forest.

As per the information, the initiative began in September 2018. Inspired by the great Japanese ecologist Akira Miyawaki, Paani Foundation collaborated with Saytrees Environmental Trust and ventured into this new experiment of converting a complete barren land into a green patch.

Under this initiative, around 2,000 saplings were planted with the help of villagers of Nhavi Budruk in Satara district of Maharashtra. During plantation, a variety of plants and their distancing was planned in a way that could help the plants grow rapidly.

The video further shows how a complete forest has emerged out within two years of this initiative. The forest is so dense that it is tough to cross, claims the shared video.

While sharing it, Aamir Khan wrote, "Really proud of this experiment done by the team." He asked others to share their opinions after watching the video.

Paani Foundation was set up in 2016 by the core team of the ‘Satyamev Jayate’ TV show. The foundation was established with the purpose of making rural Maharashtra drought-free and prosperous.

Maharashtra is one of the most drought prone states and thousands of villages in the state are affected by this. However, this is not just a natural calamity. It is a crisis largely caused by humans - by poor management of water and rapid destruction of nature, claims Paani Foundation.

"Five years ago, we started with a small dream. The dream was that if people united and worked as one, Maharashtra would become drought-free. In 2016, there were 116 villages working to become water-abundant. By 2019, over 4,700 villages joined the movement. People worked relentlessly and shattered barriers of gender, politics, class, religion and caste. Moving forward, we envision a future where Maharashtra’s citizens can create the villages of their dreams; where we can restore our environment and ensure greater financial security. We invite you to join this water revolution" say Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, founders of Paani Foundation.
