Special features of the organization
Vudhavi Karangal Samuganala Thodar Kalvi Iyakkam which was started in the year 1991 and has been effectively functioning for the past 25 years committed to the total transformation of the children from their plight full situation to a law abiding citizen. At present our license strength is 125 children (boys), we have 122 boys in the age group of 5 to 18 years. For the boys above 18 years and who have grown up with us, we have after care facility for doing their higher studies in this academic year 2016 17 seven boys are pursuing undergraduate programme (two of them in B.E., and five of them in B.com.,) and five boys are studying in technical education. , So far we have totally rehabilitated (Education, employment and Marriage) for 12 of our children. The children in the home are given apart from regular education, music lessons, yoga, martial art, dance and drama. We have a science club functioning within the home premises under the banner Rakesh Sharma Science Club under the guidance of Pondicherry Science Forum doing science activities and other related activities to motivate children for learning and reasoning science in day to day life. We have a musical troupe under the name Kalaimagal Iyal Isai Pattarai giving public performance in classical instrumental fusion with veena, miruthangam and other percussions, which enable the children to exhibit their hidden talents. It also serves as a therapy to soothe their inner stress of the past life. , The journal club is being effectively functioning where children of the home contributed their articles, once in a month and a small hand written magazine is being circulated among the boys to improve their writing skills. , The bigger boys above 18 years are motivated to play their part as a responsible citizen by organizing a small group of nearly 12 boys and 5 staffs has formed a blood donor s unit for donating blood on voluntary basis on emergency call whenever necessary all around the clock. , Children are taught to care for environment where they are being trained to make art exhibits from waste materials. They taught to make Puppets and give their own puppets show on environmental topics. , Children studying IX std above are being trained in carpenter, welding, electrician, plumbering and book binding. This training are carried out during weekends and vacation. This trainings motivate children to know their full potential and it s easy for the slow learners to choose their carrier in technical field. , The children are given balanced diet prepared in hygienic ways, regular health check-up is carried out in the hostel premises with special camps conducted by specialized hospitals and doctors.
