The hospital has been in existence for close to sixty years and has been primarily serving the poor patients at totally subsidized costs.VHS has ten mini health centers in semi urban and rural areas surrounding Chennai focusing on primary health care and prevention. VHS has a state of the art blood bank retina care and enhanced MCS services.VHS supports the GoI in the National AIDS Control Program by providing technical support as required.
