Venu Charitable Society is a non profit-making voluntary organisation engaged in providing qualitative and quantitative eye care in and around Delhi for over 36 years. Venu has a 3-Tier Eyecare Network, which comprises 20-24 primary mobile eyecare clinics, five satellite hospitals, and its tertiary centre at a state-of-the-art base hospital in South Delhi, the nerve centre of the entire organisation: The Venu Eye Institute & Research Centre. , , , The Three Tier Eyecare Network , , The First Level - Screening Camps & Vision Centres , The Second Level - Satellite Hospitals , The Third Level Base Hospital , , Training programmes recognised by the National Board of Examinations and University are organised for the medical and Para-medical staff. , , Venu s statistics bear mute testimony to the direction of the thrust of the Institute s work. , , , Upto 31st August 2016, Venu has treated a total of: , , No. of cases examined - 75, 54,473 , No. of cases examined free - 61, 10, 354 (80.88%) , No. of cases operated - 4, 56,774 , No. of cases operated free - 2, 88, 431 (63.14%) , , 70% of the patients treated at Venu come from the economically weaker section of Society and are treated free. , , The 30% paid patients contribute 70% of the total revenue generated at Venu. The deficit of 30% is raised through donations received from individuals both within and outside the country, Government and international funding agencies. , , At present Venu with its around 400 staff members, contributes to 1.2% of the total nation s eye care. It aspires to contribute 3%.
