1.The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Bengaluru, India. , 2.Our organization strives to fight issues like hunger and malnutrition in India, by implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in the government schools and government-aided schools in partnership with State Governments, which provides support in the form of Free Grain Grant and cash conversion cost on per meal basis. , 3.Since 2001, the organization has worked towards reaching more children with wholesome food on every single school day, with a small beginning of 1500 children , 4.Today Akshaya Patra is the world s largest (not-for-profit run) mid-day meal programme serving wholesome food to around 1.6 million children from 13,529 schools across 11 states in India. , 5.With the vision of No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger , the foundation aims to reach out to 5 million children by 2020. Pioneering a technology-driven operating model, this programme has been a success in terms of its reach-out, scalability and replicability. , 6.Eleven of Akshaya Patra s kitchens have been ISO 22000:2005 certified which ensures highest level of cleanliness and hygiene standards. , 7.Akshaya Patra is continuously leveraging technology to cater to millions of children.
