THALAI K KOL

Since in its inception in 1988, Thalai-k-kol, a modern Tamil theatre group primarily meant for the people of Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu involves in doing innovations and experiments in its theatre production in terms of interaction with traditional theatre forms and modern stage by way of incorporating various elements of artistic and aesthetic feeling and form of allied art forms. From the beginning, the group has been invited to perform at various regional, national and international theatre festivals and has also won a critical acclaim from the theatre circles in India and abroad. The essential core of the theatrical productions of Thalai-k-kol revolves around the Concept of Props Theatre and exploring the possibility of using the space not only for the horizontal movements but also for the vertical movements. Thalai-k-kol s theatrical productions Karunchuzhi (The Black-Whirl) in 1990, Oosi (The Needle) in 1992 are in the format of Props Theatre for the first time in India written and directed by Dr.V. Arumugham under the Sangeet Natak scheme for supporting young theatre directors in India.
