Special features of the organization
The Organization came into existence on 11-07-1969 during the holy Birth Centenary year of Father of the Nation,Mahatma Gandhi and since then is working in the field of Art & Culture; Sports & Games; Library & Reading room; Welfare activities for Youth, Children, Women & the Aged and other socio-welfare activities as furnished below. , 1)LIBRARY & READING ROOM ACTIVITIES: , The Organization has a well-equipped Library having more than 3000 books and a no of newspapers & magazines and is functioning in a 440 sq.ft. hall of its own. , Reading facilities are open to all. , 2)SPORTS & GAMES ACITIVITIES: , Various indoor and outdoor games are played daily in the club and Annual Sports Competition is held every year in which Block/District level competitors participate. , 3)ART & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES: , Ganesh Puja, Saraswati Puja, Independence Day, Republic Day etc are celebrated with ceremony and cultural programs are arranged on festive occasions. Odia dramma is staged every year by the members in association with local artists. Besides Drawing & Painting and Song competitions are conducted among school students on account of National Days and Special Occasions. , 4)ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN: , Balwadi with Nutrition Program from the year 1977-78 to 1986-87 and Early Childhood Education Program from 1983-84 to 2000-01 for 25 children of age group 06 years in each were effectively conducted. Rajiv Gandhi National Creche scheme for the children of said age group is now being implemented since 1987-88.Holiday Home camps for children of age group 9-16 were successfully conducted in the year 1975,1977,1979 and 1981 at Bhubaneswar, Puri and GopalpuronSea for a period of 15 days each. , 5)ACTIVITIES FOR WOMEN & ADULTS: , One year vocational training in tailoring & cutting for 25 rural adult women in 1982-83, one Readymade Garments unit for rural women in 1985-87,one Orientation Training Program for rural women in 1985 and Awareness Generation Program for rural women in 2013 were effectively conducted. Besides, one Adults Literacy Program was launched for adult/aged people for one year in 1978-79. , 6)YOUTH ACITIVITIES: , Most of the activities of the institution are cared by the young members. They are facilitated to attend various youth camps conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ministry of HRD and Central/State Social Welfare Board. Excursion Trips are arranged to visit places of importance inside and outside the state. , 7)SOCIO-WELFARE & ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES: , The Organization undertakes Pisciculture and agricultural activities to raise funds for the institution. The members have constructed two buildings for the organization bending their energy. They take initiative to aware the women of their legal rights and motivate them to form SHG groups. Besides Health & Sanitation activities and other welfare works are also taken up by the organization.
