Aim and Activities of the Trust:- , Veene Seshanna was the principal architect of Mysore Bani (Mysore School of Veena). His grandson Swaramurthy V N Rao was a great Veena Player, Vocalist & Guru. To perpetuate their memory our trust conducts Music Festivals, Music Competitions, Presentations of Awards, Publication of Books and CDs and Conducts Music Workshops. , Awards:- , Every year the trust presents 2 awards: , 1. Instrumental Award to a veteran instrumentalist of Carnatic Music , 2. Vocal Award to a senior Vocalist of Carnatic Music. , We present a purse of Rs.50,000/- with other paraphernalia for each awardee. , , Music Festival:- , We conduct every year a music festival called VEENEYA BEDAGU both in & outside Karnataka. The festival consists of not only Veena concerts but also Vocal & other instrumental music performances. Sufficient opportunities will be provided to young & talented artists. Its also our aim to propagate compositions of Mysore Composers in particular Veene Seshanna & Swaramurthy V N Rao s compositions. The trust s aim is also to educate the listeners and convert them in to connoisseurs. For this purpose we also conduct academic sessions, wherein lecture, demonstrations on various subjects will be conducted by eminent scholars and musicologists of the country. Specially a detailed study of compositions of Veene Seshanna in both Vocal and Instrument, focusing on Raga, Thala and Lyrics. These academic sessions will be in both music and dance. , Workshops:- , To propagate the compositions of Veene Seshanna, workshops will be conducted in both Music and Dance, both in and outside Karnataka. This will helps young artists to learn Seshanna s compositions in an authentic way and the compositions will flow from generation to generation. , , CDs:- , To spread Seshanna s compositions in an authentic way the trust plans to bring these compositions in the form of CDs in an authentic way. Based on the authentic Varnamattu eminent musicians will perform in both vocal and instrument and give a reliable version. , , Publication :- , The trust is planning to publish books on various subjects of Music. Especially compositions of Seshanna to be published in different languages of India with reliable SWARAPRASTHARA and precise SAHITHYA. It is also proposing to bring Seshanna s compositions in English(with Carnatic Music Notations). The trust s ambitious project is to publish a magnum opus on Veene Seshanna i.e., an international edition. It is also proposed to publish books on Veena, Contemporary Veena Players of Seshanna, Veena Players of the Mysore Palace, Vainika s of different BAANEE S and anything on music. , , Documentation:- , To scout, survey and collect musical instruments and any other materials connected with music and musicians and photographs of both our past and present musicians. To build an ARCHIVES of historical value, to organize exhibition of photographs, instruments, testimonials of our past and present musicians and give a visual effect to music! , In a nutshell our trust s aim to serve the classical music field in all the possible ways.
