Swadeshi Science Movement is (SSM) is a leading popular cum professional science organization in the state of Kerala dedicated for the cause of science. It envisions social development, cultural enhancement and environmental maintenance through the popularization of science, imbibing scientific advancements along with scientific heritage of the country. , SSM has spread her wings into , Engineering and Technology (Bharadwaja Sarani), , Architecture (Vaasthuvidya Sarani), , Animal welfare and Rural development (AWARDS), , Centre for innovative and entrepreneurship development (CIED), , Agricultural development (Parasara Sarani), , Ayurveda (Vagbhata Sarani), , Studies in Yoga (Yogavidya Sarani) , , Mathematic Research and studies( Ramanuja Sarani), , Women empowerment (Sakthi), , Biodiversity conservation and Environment protection (Green Doctors & Swadeshi Environment Services(SES), , Science Research Institute (SRI) etc. , Art and Culture( Thyagaraja Sarani) , Publications Wing , Students Youth Programme , Nalanda virtual university , SSM conducts Sastra Prathibha Matsaram in which ten thousand students take part. Delegates from all over the world participate in The World Ayurveda Congress. Sasthra Madhanam and Ashtanga Hridaya Sathram are conducted by Vagbhata Srani in which Ayurveda Doctors and students of BAMS from all over India participate. SSM conducts Science Congress every year, coinciding with the birthday of C. V. Raman in which scientists & technocrats as well as local people participate and share their knowledge. Scientific papers are presented in regional language also. Arya Bhateeyam is yet another popular science programme. SSM celebrates National technology Day, National Science Day, Self Reliance Day etc. Several workshops, seminars public meetings, action programme etc are conducted by SSM every year, to spread the scientific knowledge to the nook and corner of the society. There are programme for science communication through digital media, folk media and regional languages. SSM gives thrust to rural developmental activities and promotion of rural technologies. SSM train youth and women to empower them and be self reliant. SSM gives opportunities to the rural population to exhibit their products and innovative ideas. , , For the dedicated effort in science popularization and rural development, Swadeshi Science Movement has been awarded with the prestigious National Award for Outstanding Efforts in Science and Technology Communication by the NCSTC, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India for the year 2006 and was accredited with the JAWAHARLAL NEHRU PRIZE for science popularization by the Indian Science Congress Association in 2005-06.
