Special features of the organization

HIV /AIDS are the health related current issues which is getting focus of different agencies. Considering its severity and sensitivity it is required to be addresses in responsible manner. Sumitra Sansthan is devoting its efforts not only with the persons affected by HIV/AIDS but also spreading awareness for its precaution and identifying the affected people. Sumitra Sansthan has leveraged the resources available through UP and MP States Aids Control Societies (UPSACS and MPSACS) in both of the states of its interventions i.e. Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Sumitra Sansthan is targeting different groups of the HIV/AIDS patients and high risk groups including Female Sex Workers (FSW), Men, who have Sex with Men (MSM) and Injection Drug Users (IDU). High risk groups are being identified and being made aware and inspired about the safe behaviour for protection from the HIV/AIDS. , During the year organization facilitated to extend different services to 800 FSWs, 650 MSMs, 100 TGs and 650 IDUs in Hamirpur and Kanpur Dehat districts of UP and Chattarpur, Bina and Sagar districts of Madhya Pradesh. , Under the program, specific activities i.e. enabling environment, condom promotion, BCC (behaviour change communication), advocacy, Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) related support and counselling, HIV testing etc. are being implemented within the Hamirpur, Kanpur (Dehat), Sager and Chhatarpur districts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh region. Through, program the organization has also been targeting various secondary stakeholders like judiciary, police, legal fraternity health departments etc to ensure their various rights and empower the targeted community towards their rights.Other stakeholders are more sensitized and victims of HIV/AIDS are getting better treatment as compared to earlier situations.
