Special features of the organization
Major Activities - (1) Curriculum & Material Preparation in the area of Literacy and its allign subjects. (2) Training and Orientation of Literacy Functionaries. (3) Research Evaluation and Monitoring of Literacy Programme and other projects, conducts impact studies. (4) Organize general activities like - Financial Literacy, Legal Literacy, Environmental Literacy, etc. , , Achievements - (1) During 2013-14 SRC, U.P. had been assigned responsibility of organising Island of Success. There were 5 districts namely - Basti, Deoria, Fatehpur, Unnao and Varanasi undertaken. 627 Villages of adopted 5 districts. Initial target was to literate 3,39,936 persons whereas 2,99,990 had been made successfully literate. As an outcome 90% success achieved. (2) During 2014-15 special drive were organised in Pachpedwa Block of District Balrampur and Gilaula Block of District Shravasti. Initial target was 3000 in each Block. As an outcome 100% success had been achieved during 2014-15. (3) SRC, U.P. had initiated an innovative Campaign first time in entire country Suraksha Bandhan Video Rath Yatra. As an outcome 95042 number of persons were covered. (4) Live Video Coverage of Suraksha Bandhan Rath Yatra had been included in the NLMA documentary Suraksha Se Samajik Suraksha included in the NLMA documentary displayed on the occassion of International Literacy Day on 8th September 2015 in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. (5) As per NLMA instruction SRC, U.P. had been assigned to initiate action for 100% Literacy in SAGY Villages. SRC, U.P. had adopted 30 SAGY Villages out of 93 SAGY Villages in entire U.P. during 2015-16. The initial target was 17,718 as an output 14,240 successfully appeared. Highest target was adopted in all SRCs. Outstanding activities like - Training of DC, BC and Preraks of entire 93 SAGY Villages and distribution of publicity material were also given. (6) Puppet Shows, Street Plays, Awareness Rallies, Wall Writing and Coordination meetings were undertaken as a massive campaign to make conducive environment for achieving 100% literacy target. (7) State Literacy Award 2016 was given to 10 Preraks of SRC, U.P. adopted SAGY Villages in the district of Varanasi, Chandauli, Mahoba, Mathura, etc.
