Special features of the organization
St. Thomas Education Society , The society was established in the year 1970 and registered with the registrar of the societies of Kodagu District at Madikeri with the register number: 03/1970-71. Fr. Barnabas was the first secretary and Rev. Fr. Fredrick was the first president of the society. Later, as the St. Paul s province started satisfying the educational needs of the people in the remote villages of Karnataka state, it established 6 more schools under the patronage of St. Thomas Education Society. The later established schools are Sacred Heart School at Shanivarasnathe, Bharath Matha School at Koppa, Pushpa School at Periyapatana, Christ School at Thandavapura and Christa Jyothi School at Arkalgud. , In the financial year 2003-04, the society was formed in the name of St. Thomas Education Society and was registered under the registrar of societies of Mysore office at Carmel Bhavan, N.R. Mohalla. Later the exiting society at Gonikoppal was amalgamated to the new society at Mysore. Thus the exiting society at Gonikoppal was shifted to Mysore. Later under this society seven other schools, four PU colleges, two degree colleges and a special school for the disabled were formed. Those institutions are: 1. Christ School Vidya Nagar Hassan, 2. Christ Public School Bogadi Mysuru, 3. Christ School Dharmapuri Road, Hunsur, 4. Christ Academy, Mundaje Belthangady, 5. Christ Academy, Kandali Hassan, 6. Christ Academy, Hallikerehundi Nanjangudu, 7. Sacred Heart P.U College Shanivarasanthe, 8. Christ P.U College Bogadi, 9. Pushpa P.U College Periyapatna, 10. Bharath Matha PU College, Koppa Periyapatna, 11. Bharath Matha Degree College, Koppa Periyapatna, 12. Christ College, Srirampura Mysuru and 13. Christ Health & Wellness Academy (CHWA) at Jettihundi Mysuru. , At present Rev. Fr. Santhosh Srayil is the president and Fr. Suraj Abraham is the secretary of the society. The tagline of the society is life in abundance which conveys the message of bringing life through education. Currently the society has around 850 employees, 10000 above students in all its institutions around four districts of Karnataka state. Thus the society imparts formal education and special education catering the needs of the rural population, especially the disabled and less fortunate children in the rural area from the last 46 years. Educational scholarships are provided to the meritorious poor students in all the institutions of the society. The institutions focus on the overall development of the rural students.
