Sri Rekandar Venugopal Rao belongs to the reputed Telugu Family Theatre popularly known as SURABHI, with an unbroken family tradition from 1885 in Chakraipeta Mandal, Cuddapah District, Andhra Pradesh. This perhaps, is the only theater in India with a history of 131 years. I am the 5th generation artist from Surabhi family. All my great ancestors right from Sri Vanarassa Gonvinda Rao, Pedda Rama Rao, Koteswar Rao, Narsimha Rao were all great Telugu Playwrightes and theatre artists who had dedicated their lives for preservation of Telugu Plays. Like the ancestors, 5th generation first son of Sri R. Narasimha Rao (father) and Smt. R. Sarojinin Devi (Mother) Sri Venugopal Rao born in 24th February 1962 in the place Numberpoolakunta Village, Andhra Pradesh State was started acting career in the Telugu theater at the age of 5 years as Bhakta Prahlada. From this child role onwards, I acted in various roles till today. I being the 5th generation of the Surabhi family, since my childhood, I dedicated my life completely for upliftment of Natyamandi, primarily as artist and subsequently as Director and presently the Natya Mandali is being run under my leadership. The latest creation is Seetha Rama Kalyanam , Pouranika Drama acted and directed by me i.e., Sri R. Venugopal Rao.
