Material Science Division (MSD) undertakes Research and Development activities for product development, process development, trouble-shooting, generation of opinion reports and consultancy to industries on material characterization involving rubber & plastics, paints, textiles, leather, paper, ink etc. MSD has state-of-the-art pilot plant facilities viz. compression molding, injection molding, extruders, reactors, mixers, roll mills, ball mills, bead mills etc. , The major activities of the division are material research, opinion report, process validation and optimization, synthesis, consultancy, trouble shooting, product development, scale up and technology commercialization. , The major research areas of the division are green technologies, nanotechnology, fluoropolymers, radiation processing, adhesives and coatings, healthcare products, waste utilization, formulations and optical polymers. , MSD has also analytical section for Rubber and Plastics, Textiles, Papers and Paint whose main activities is to provide technical services in characterization of raw materials, semi-processed and finished products. , The business incubator services to young and upcoming entrepreneurs are being provided in Technology Business Incubation section of the division operating since 2011. , The major activities during the financial year 2015-16 are: , R & D projects completed during the year : 22 , New R & D projects started during the year : 10 , Paper published : 11 , Paper / poster presented : 9 , PhD received : 2 , Incubation services offered to incubators : 14
