BMVSS is the LARGEST ORGANISATION FOR THE DISABLED IN THE WORLD. Over 1.55 million beneficiaries have been fitted/provided with Jaipur Foot/limb, calipers, and aids and appliances like Crutches, Sticks, Splints, brace etc, hand-paddled tricycles, wheelchairs, hearing aids, surgeries. These have been done mostly in India and also in 26 countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America, TOTALLY FREE of CHARGE. , BMVSS is a purely secular, non-religious, non-governmental, non-political, non-sectarian, non-regional institution, for helping the physically challenged, particularly the financially weak and under-privileged. , The impact of the Jaipur Foot was vividly described in the Time Magazine (Fall 1997 Issue) - People who live inside the worlds many war zones from Afganistan to Rwanda may never have heard of New York or Paris but they are likely to know a town in Northern India called Jaipur. Jaipur is famous in strife torn areas as the birthplace of an extraordinary artificial limb known as the Jaipur Foot, that has revolutionized life for million of landmine amputees. The beauty of Jaipur Foot is its lightness and mobility those who wear it can run, climb trees and pedal bicycles and its low price . , In 2009, BMVSS developed Knee Joint in collaboration of Stanford University, also called as Stanford Jaipur Knee. It has also been hailed by the Time Magazine (November 23, 2009 Issue) as one of the 50 Best Inventions of the world in the year 2009.
