SMILE TRAIN SHIJA CLEFT PROJECT , Providing free operation to patients with cleft lip and palate under the sponsorship of Smile Train Inc., USA, through Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt. Ltd., as sister concern of Shija Health Care and Research Institute (SHCRI). The Smile Train Project started on 9th June 2006 and has successfully operated more than 3500 patients free of cost. , We have been working on ensuring that the benefit of the project reaches to the masses of the North-Eastern part of India & even to the extent of Myanmar. Mission Myanmar on 23rd 24th &25th of May 2013 and on 20th 21st 22nd of March 2014. Where in 87 & 27 free cleft surgeries were respectively performed successfully. , Various initiatives that have been undertaken till date are listed below: , - Mission Barak. , - Mission Nagaland. , - Mission Ukhrul. , - Mission Senapati. , - Mission Myanmar. , - Mission Churachandpur. , , , SHIJA BLOOD BANK & TRANSFUSION SERVICES , Shija Blood Bank & Transfusion Services is the only licensed blood bank accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) in North Eastern states. It is equipped with Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) facility to screen HIV, Hepatitis B & C Virus which is the first installation in the entire Eastern India. , , SHIJA VITAMIN ANGELS PROJECT , It is a project to provide free Vitamin A supplements and Albendazole to all children between 6 months and 5 years of age. Implemented effectively from January 2015. It is a collaborative effort of Shija Health Care and Research Institute (SHCRI) and Vitamin Angels, a US based NGO, and a simple cost effective dose of vitamin A every six months can prevent blindness and reduce under-five child mortality by 24% in at risk populations. Vitamin A Deficiency (VAD) is the most common cause of preventable blindness in children under five and reduction of VAD has a vital role in maintaining eye health and vision, growth, and immune function. , Free Vitamin A for children between 6 months and 5 years and Albendazole for children between 1 year and 5 years is distributed in various camps and are also available on all days at Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, HealthCity Langol. SHIJA VITAMIN ANGELS PROJECT has distributed 948 bottles of Vitamin A (100,000 IU) (1 bottle =500 doses), 960 bottles of Vitamin A (200,000 IU) (1 bottle =500 doses) and 858 bottles of Albendazole (400 mg) (1 bottle =500 doses) till date. , , , SHIJA EYE CARE FOUNDATION , Founded: Year 2007 , Shija Eye Care Foundation has operated more than 20000 cataract surgeries till date. We also conduct various Eye Screening camp on the average of 7 to 8 camps per month in rural and remote areas of Manipur to cater the underserved region. The detected patients for surgeries especially the cataracts are provided transportation to and from base hospital, free stay for two nights . , Shija Eye Care Foundation-an initiative (Mission for Vision Myanmar) held from 25/12/ 2013 to 29/12/ 2013where in 179 cataract surgeries were performed free of cost by a team from Shija Eye Care Foundation at Monywa General Hospital, Sagaing region. , Shija Eye Care Foundation has been contributing the 60% to 70% of cataract surgeries from the total 30000 operable cases of Manipur. But the overall backlog is increasing by years as we cannot operate more then 3500-4000 per year. , Shija Eye Care Foundation also has been certified for cornea transplantation by Directorate of Health Services Manipur on 22nd April 2016.
