SATABDIRA KALAKARA , A PROFILE , About three & half decade back a small group of young, enthusiastic cultural activists and some students of Drama Dept. of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalay united in a pleasant summer evening with a lot of dreams in their eyes.They had nothing but commitment and dedication for development of theatre. , Their determination won over all obstacles and Satabdira Kalakar a cultural institution made its humble debut on April 18, 1976 in the temple city. Since then there was no looking back. , The organization was able to cross the boundaries of our State and proved its mettle at far off places like Guwahati, Kolkata, New Delhi (N.S.D), Mumbai, Lucknow, Allahbabad, Visakhapatanam etc. It had created artists, play wrights, directors, and the talent of whose would have remained unnoticed otherwise. , By now this organization have been able to stage more than hundred plays besides organizing seminars, workshops on Theatre and Folk Culture, Children Drama Festivals for eleven years and after that National Multilingual Drama Festival for twelve years consecutively. , PLAYS STAGED OUTSIDE ORISSA , Play Place , , Yuga Jyoti Allahabad (1979) , Aruna Rangara Pakshi , NSD,New Delhi (180) , Avataar Guwahati , (East Zone Theatre , Festival (1986), , Kolkata (1993, 1998, , 2001 & 2004) , & Lucknow (1989) , Ruddhadwar Guwahati , (East Zone Theatre , Festival (1991), , Kolkata (1993, 2006) , & Santiniketan (2006) , , Jibanyasa New Delhi (1997) & ;Kolkata,Visakh. , Biplabi krutibas Mumbai university [spring festival] 2009 , , PLAYS STAGED INSIDE ORISSA , 120 plays. Of different playwrights of different languages. , PLAYS RECORDED BY DOOR DARSHAN KENDRA, BHUBANESWAR , 18 plays , PLAYS RECORDED BY ETV (ORIYA) , 4 plays , WORK DONE FOR CHILDREN , In the late eighties the Organisation decided to hold Children s Drama Festival from the year 1988-98. [11years] , SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THEATRE , With the help of national Sangeet Natak Akademi and Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, the organization has conducted 12 workshops for major as well as for child artists for enriching their artistic talents &34 theatre seminars.. , ACTING SCHOOL , Satabdira-Kalakar also started an acting school to bring young blood to the main stream. 5 batches of students consisting of 62 students have been trained up in basic theory of acting, (both stage and camera).The students after successfully completing the 4 months course, engaged in field of art , NATIONAL MULTINGUAL DRAMA FESTIVAL , From the year 1998, the organization is organization National Multilingual Drama Festival, the first of its kind on help from EZCC, Kolkata, NSNA, Delhi and Department of Culture, Government of Orissa with a noble intention to develop besides providing opportunity to the esteemed audience to witness the successful plays of eminent theatre celebrities of the country. , FUTURE PLAN , Satabdira Kalakar is determined to construct a mini auditorium on the land allotted in its favour by the Government of Orissa for regular theatre, to bring out a theatre journal and to start a Theatre Repertory Company.
