About the organization

Special features of the organization

Santhimargam is an organisation established for empowering the quality of life of the persons with intellectual disability through special education, vocational training, care and rehabilitation in 1993. The organisation started with the voluntary effort of woman, parents, professionals and public. With humble beginning in a rented accommodation, major challenge was to have own building. The dream project of the organisation is now functioning in a spacious two storied building with all facilities for rehabilitation and accommodation since 2003 may 7th which was constructed with the help of philanthropic organisations and individuals and we remember their contributions thankfully. , Govt. of India Bestowed support for the activities of santhimargam by sanctioning Grant-in-aid in the year 1998 onwards. Govt. of kerala Department of education granted recognition to Asadeepam Special School. 1/4/1999 as per Go(p) 74/99/ GEDN dated 31/3/1999. The school was registered under PWD Act by SWD as on 12/9/2002 and later on by DPI. , , The boarding home provides accommodation to the persons learning in the school or undergoing vocational training with the aim of rehabilitation. There is a facility to accommodate 56 inmates. Training in activities of daily living can be provided to the inmates. , The school principal Smt. Mini P.R received the Rotary vocational Excellence Best Teacher award from Rotary Cochin International in the year 2002 4th sep and Jaycee Humanitarian young citizen Award on 16th August 2003. , An occupational therapy unit is started in the year 2012 and appoint a therapist for the training of children with autism and ADHD. , Vocational training program with the objective of creating vocational aptitude in children and emphasis on over all development of the child to learn to earn through vocational training. , A computer training programme Professional back office data entry and livelihood programme using AMBA curriculum started last year and continuing with the online guidance of AMBA, an organisation from Bangalore . , Yearly minimum two awareness / medical camps are conducting for the parents and students. , The children participates in cultural activities and other co-curricular activities. Child friendly classroom arrangements, open schooling, special training for children with Autism are very special of this institution. , Of all the activities the special school is supported by GOI for which we are thankful to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment . , We are not really serving but making the intellectually challenged, a partner of our programme.
