RURAL EDUCATION FOR ACTION AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY

READ AGENCY is a social service organization rendering valuable services to the children by running two primary schools, hearing impaired school. We are running 10 cr ches in DINDIGUL district successfully with the valuable supervision of central and state social welfare boards. Short stay home is run by READ from 2002 where women and children are given food, shelter, safety, health care, education and vocational training. SWADHAR home is run by us with the support of Govt. of India from 2004 for 100 women. UJJAWALA home is functioning by us under the financial support of central government for the women in trafficking. , Tribal mobile health program is implemented for the remote tribes which helps to promote the health status and reduce IMR(Infant Mortality Rate). Reproductive cum child health care program is implemented for women to prevent anaemia, promotes knowledge to adolescent girls, management of health and hygiene, importance of immunization and institutional delivery. , Women empowerment program is implemented for promoting leadership quality economical empowerment, rights, entitlement of women is enhanced, and property rights, marriage rights, allied acts and policies are well known by our series of capacity building activities. , Counselling centre is functioning for the promotion of awareness and guidance to the tribes to avoid false hopes and superstitions. We have trained the tribes to utilise medical facilities of government and private hospitals, and to get the financial assistance which is given by state government. , READ landed a milestone that we have released 1028 bonded labours from bondage (slavery) from the estate owners of KOKAIKANAL hills, in DINDIGUL district. , 1200 self help groups (SHG) were formed and handed over to govt of TAMILNADU. , 10 primary schools established in tribal villages of KODAIKANAL hills, and handed over to govt and community. , Elders, women children, and differently abled are provided shelter, food, and accommodation. , READ has been awarded THE STATE BEST NGO AWARD BY GOVT OF TAMILNADU IN 2008, for its outstanding performance and service rendered to women and children.
