RURAL ASSOCIATION FOR HUMAN INTEREST RAHI NURPUR BEDI

Rural association for Human Interest Nurpur Bedi, Ropar is a Voluntary Association in state of Punjab. Society is working in the rural areas of two districts namely Ropar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Nawanshahr Association is working for the upliftment of the rural peoples living in the backward villages in these areas from last 13 years. Rural association for Human Interest was established in August 1996 and it is registered under the society s registration act XXI of 1860 vide registration no. 645 dated 12th August 1996. RAHI is also registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs of govt. of India under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 vide no. 115320015 dated 21st November 2002 Associations also registered under 12A of income tax during these thirteen years association has been putting its best efforts in bringing all around development in the society and the area which comes under the Association. From the year 1996 RAHI is working mainly with the rural communities in Nurpur Bedi block of Ropar Distt located about 80 kms north of Chandigarh city, the capital of state. There are 140 villages in this block, and the roads connecting these villages are in very worse condition. Routine development programmes of the government do not reach these villages properly, which makes the role of association more important as it aware the people about these programmes of the government. The population of the block, which has a total geographical area of 34139 hqt. is approximately one lac with a sex ratio of 1000:793 unfavorable to women.
