Special features of the organization
Brief Background of the Organisation: , The Rural Area Foundation (RAF) was started with a group of few dedicated people to address and redress the social problems in the remote border areas of Nagaland, considering Phokhungri Area under Meluri Sub-division of Phek District, Nagaland. The Organization was formed in the year 2009 and was officially registered in the year 2009 vide Regd.No.H/RS.5839. RAF emerged to redress the grievances of the poor and the down trodden, who are morally, socially, educationally and economically backward in all front and to uplift the living standard of the people especially living in the rural areas. , Program and activities taken by the Organisation , The Organization in the past 4 years has organised the following programs: , Social Awareness Program: , The members conducted social awareness programme in some of the , villages of Meluri sub-division under Phek district with an objectives like, poverty , eradication, fight against illiteracy, fight against drug used/HIV&AIDS, eradication , of diseases like malaria, juindice, tuberculosis(TB),etc. Many people of the , area who are concerned for the welfare of the people attended the awareness , program. , , Family Welfare Program: , Women folks in the rural area are very poor and they have no means to , sustain their livelihood. Keeping this in view, the society members benevolently , render help towards them by organising job based training such as flowers , making, bamboo crafts, wooden handicraft, etc. , so that they can work towards , uplifting their status and be able to stand on their own feets. , , Education Awareness Program: , The children engaged in wage earning. Uncared grown up children are , gradually become the social headache who ultimately tuned their heads to be , come social evils. In spite of various measures taken to improve the level of education in the state to aware of , the children regarding the importance of literacy. In this connection the society , distributed teaching materials and books to poor children. , , Seminar & Workshop: , To make people aware of the increasing of AIDS, the society organized one , day seminar at Phokhungri village under Phek District. During the program, the , society has issued several pamphlets, poster, circular, etc. to aware the , people about the fatal disease and taught them about the prevention. The village , council and other elders in the area has acknowledged this program. , , Existing Project: , As such, Rural Area Foundation, is implementing targeted intervention (TI) program among Injecting Drug Users(IDUs) under Chumukedima block since 2013. Under this programme the Organisation intensively worked towards HIV/AIDS prevention and care among the IDUs under Nagaland State AIDS Control Society. The project provide services to all the registered key population to keep oneself protected from the dreaded disease of HIV/AIDS. It targets the IDUs, and identifies them and makes them involve in harm reduction activities to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and injecting related harms.
