River Research Centre

River Research Centre started the activities in 2003 , It was registered as a Trust in 2006 , As the name suggests the main focus of the organization is the river conservation , Also we look into issues related with water resources forest ecology agriculture energy conservation tribal affairs and environment education activities , We also do research campaigns and policy level advocacy works , We are coordinating with Local Self Governments of Chalakudy River basin on water management and river conservation , Some of the important activities taken up by RRC is listed below , Study on the multi basin inter state Parambikulam Aliyar Project Study on water drawal by lift irrigation systems in Chalakudy River basin , Study on water use by plantations in Nelliyampathy , Acted as Project Facilitating Agency in a NABARD funded Watershed project at Bedadka Gram Panchayath in Kasargode District , Coordinated a project for Fish monitoring in Kerala rivers for the Kerala State Biodiversity Board , Did river bank mapping and sand auditing of two rivers for the Revenue Department of Government of Kerala , Did a short review of solar policy implementation in Kerala , Doing Schools for River program to inculcate love for rivers among students , Carrying out the Project Sustainable livelihood program for ethnic communities around Parambikulam Tiger Reserve funded by Science and Technology Department of Government of India , Apart from these we have been providing policy inputs to various ministries at State and Centre
