Preservation and Proliferation of Rural Resources and Nature

PRAN (Preservation and Proliferation of Rural Resources and Nature) is spinoff from PRADAN and got registered in 2012 as an independent trust. It is founded by Anil Kumar Verma ex-Team Leader, PRADAN. , PRAN s work is highly recognised across many countries. The print and electronic media from across the world visited PRAN projects and covered its activities widely .Guardian, Newyark times, German, Austrian, chinese, BBC and other countries print and electronic media paid attention to PRAN s rural work benefitting small and marginal farmers. PRAN won best NGO award by Bihar Agricultural University for promoting agro-ecology in 2015. In 2014 PRAN got a national level Skoch award for mainstreaming the agro-ecology bringing food security to small and marginal farmers in Bihar. PRAN project farmers Mr Jayjeet Kumar was honoured by Mr Narendra Modi the then chief minister of Gujarat. Another farmer Santosh Kumar received award from Mr Sharad Pawar, ex Agricultural minister of India. PRAN was invited by several countries to present its experience on SRI method of crop cultivation. PRAN s experience was shared in Harvard university, Boston and Cornell university at Ithaca, USA. Post Graduate students in agricultural streams from France, Cambridge university, London, England and Harvard university visited PRAN s project. Director, SRI centre at Cornell University Dr Erika Styger along with world bank representative from Mali and many other foreign dignitaries visited our project. , During 2015-16, we worked with 26145 households. Among these 33% were SC, 66% are OBCs and rest 1% others. All the participant families are women. The small and marginal farmers who have been associated with PRAN have enhanced crop productivity and are getting food-grains security round the year which earlier were only for 3-6 months. They are also getting additional cash to meet household security. In our current project area we have formed 150 common Interest Groups. The members of Common Interest Groups are all women.
