Special features of the organization
PEWA has been implementing TI project under the support of MACS from 2004 at Chingmeirong West covering 21 surrounding villages Through this project it has been able to maintain constant touch with the stakeholders as well as civil society at large On the top of that organizing different programme like health camps Dais Training Workshop on sustainable environment and Lobby and Advocacy workshop on HIV AIDS etc. gives lots of enthusiasm to the peoples participation. , Main Outcome : , The Association is active liaison with state Government as well as local bodies like CBOs Mahila Mandals Youth clubs etc. , , For Achieving the above objectives we had organize the following activities they are , 1.Community sensitization meeting. , 2.Outreach Work and Peer Education. , 3.One to one interaction and group discussion. , 4.Focus group meeting. , 5.Community leaders and volunteers training. , 6.Health check-up. , 7.Needle Syringe exchange programme. , 8.Condom promotion. , 9.Review and planning meeting. , 10. Referral service ICTC, VCCTC, DOTs centre Govt. and private hospital. , 11. Drug substitution programme. , 12. Care and Support. , 13. Special care to PLWHAs their spouses and childrens. , 14. Networking meeting. , 15. Advocacy meeting. , 16. Counselling. , Presently project is in its IIIrd phase intervention among the IDUs and their spouses. The project areas is partly in Heingang Wangkhei and Lamsang assembly constituencies covering 694 IDUs had been enrolled till March 2009 under the harm minimization and care programme. The project is being implemented since May 2005. Out of the total nos. of enrolment IDUs 56 clients had been expired 42 clients out of contact and 245 clients are regular of the NESP. Beside this 64 spouses of IDUs and 47 CLHAs had also been enrolled in the project by March, 2009. As part of the intervention programme the project is focussing on Networking, referral and linkages for accessible of their services. To create an enabling environment for the smooth functioning of the project it has been conducting various sensitization programmes with different stateholds of the project area. Under the care and support doctor and concerned staffs paid mobile health care services at the various villages as per their need of the client since clients who are in the far areas could not possible to visit for the same so for the accessibility of needy services. , 64 spouse of IDUs are getting services under the RIAC programme. Out of this number women are 14 HIV positive out of this positive number 11 women have enrolled at the ART centre. , Commonly the family members are rejecting their spouses and children for not depending their financial and others needs. So in order to meet their need expenses some women involved in sex work here HIV transmission is secondary for their survival. Sometimes they are engaged in labour work, even their health condition in bad condition. Their children also partly and fully assisting to their mother financial income. , Its show that HIV transmission through sex , is increasing day by day. So there is urgent need and promotion of income generating programme for those deprive section. Along with these financial problem will deteriorate their lives. Above these problem the deprive women are also suffering from family violence
