PATHWAY CENTRE FOR REHABILITATION AND EDUCATION FOR MENTALLY RETARDED A Unit of DR D M C TRUST

Dr. Dathu Rao Memorial Charitable Trust, Pathway Centre for Rehabilitation and Education of the Mentally Retarded, Chennai, India, is a voluntary, charitable, non-profit organization established in the year 1975. Its purpose is to provide comprehensive care and educational opportunities for mentally handicapped children. Pathway is founded on the philosophy that every individual should be given the opportunity to utilize their potential in order to live with dignity and self respect, regardless of mental or physical limitations. Today over 100 children receive full and FREE care at the live-in facility, while another 300 children are seen on daily basis for rehabilitation and educational programs. During the last 40 years Pathway has served more than 40000 children and adults with various problems and disabilities. , Pathway has been commended by the state government as well as the union government for its services to the disabled over these years. It has received considerable awards , PAMELA MARTINEZ/PATHWAY Agro farm for children named after its donor is located in a large 65 acre agro farm in Agili, Madhuranthakam Taluk, Kancheepuram District. This agro farm houses a large orphanage to house more than 200 children, a well organized and well run English medium Matriculation Residential school, recognized by the Directorate of Matriculation Schools, Govt. of Tamil Nadu. The children are offered high class facilities such as swimming, yoga, music, good recreational facilities, quality education, total medical care. A HOSPITAL ON WHEELS is also run from this facility serving a large number of poor villagers around the Agro farm. , SABIN CENTRE FOR EDUCATION AND REHABILITATION OF THE DISABLED was dedicated in November 2009 and has been serving children, adolescents and adults with mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism and related dysfunctions. This centre has the services of professional and other staff. As a part of Sabin Centre for Disabled the organization has initiated outreach programme to serve disabled in a couple of locations in nearby villages.
