Parvatiya Kala Kendra was created with a view to promotefolk forms of Uttarakhand comprising the central Himalayan regions of kumaon and Garhwal that is folk forms associated with the rituals ceremonies dances and songs legends ballads tales as also the traditional Ramlila.The programmes of the Kendra sbecame popular that not only voluntary institutions in Indian Cities invited the Kendra to present these programmes but also ICCR sent the Kendra team to Tunisia Algeria Egypt Syria and Jordan in Nineteen Eighty Four and to North Korea China and Thailand in Nineteen Eighty Eight. the names of the major plays are Rajula Malushahi Rasik Ramol Ajua Bafaul Ramlila Goriya InderSabha Meghdoot Amir Khusrao.The Kendra has created shows based on Indian freedom struggle and charts newer concepts to tap the Himalayan culture by working on future themes
