Special features of the organization
1) CHILD HEALTH CARD SCHEME(CHCS) i.e. IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM: , To provide free immunization to the children of the age 0 to 6 and would be mothers. Also to provide awareness about health and hygiene. , Infrastructure & staff: We have two well equipped dispensaries along with a team of medical officers, medical assistants. Each mobile dispensary has a fixed schedule of slum visit for 5 weeks. The schedule is attached with the document. , Monitoring: There is one medical officer as a in charge of the mobile dispensary. He / she is responsible for all the operations on the mobile van. , Reporting: Monthly report of all these three projects is reported to all the donors and the members of the board of trustees as well as to Pune Municipal Corporation. Till date could register 35000 children , 2) KISHORI SHAKTI PROJECT , Initially we have started this program in 7 slums. In which we are running daily classes for our beneficiaries i.e. adolescent girls. We are focusing on life skills training programs such as self awareness, body language, self presentation, interpersonal relationship, assertiveness, coping with emotions, empathy, problem solving, goal setting and decision making, creative thinking, critical thinking etc. Introduction to sensitive topics like HIV, birth control techniques etc are being introduced at appropriate stage. Also conducts introductory program to inform about the legal provision for crime related to women. Now the same program is conducted in 9 slums in Pune Municipal Corporation area. , 3) HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM and TRAINING OF ANGANWADI WORKERS , Since last four years Niramay is conducting free immunization program for children of the age 0 to 6 years in the slums of Pune Municipal corporation area. While conducting the activity, our team noticed some of the most common things about health and hygiene in all these community. We used to conduct the immunization activity with the help of Anganwadi workers of ICDS. The supervisors and the CDPOs of these ICDS projects requested Niramay to conduct health awareness activity in these slums and also to conduct training of Anganwadi workers on health related topics. Initially Niramay conducted awareness activity on topics like nutritious diet, awareness about need and benefits of proper breast feeding, how to prevent rainy season diseases, water borne diseases, viral, contagious, diseases related with the reproductive organs, disease related with the various addiction , HIV AIDS, health problem related with women and girl child, swine flu etc. The team on two mobile dispensaries used to counsel the parents on various health related problems. , 1. Impact of our work has created , 1) Vaccination(CHCS): Till date we have reached more than 30000 children and in a year we would definitely reach more than 40000 children in a span of a year. Conducting the program in 135 slums and 21 construction site. , 2) Kishori Shakti Project: Initially started the program in seven slums from Pune city. Now reaching to 10 slums from Pune Municipal corporation area. Daily classes are conducted to train the adolescent girls about life skills. In each slums average 30 adolescent girls attend the classes and in some occasions more than 100 girls from each slums participate in the activities. Now parents initiative is increasing and more & more girls are joining this Kishori Shakti Movement.
