Special features of the organization

One 60 bedded hospital, 2 10 bedded hospitals, 2 daily dispensaries, 1 mobile medical units are running in interior settlements in Nilgiris and a medical unit functioning in B.R. Hills, Karnataka and these units are grant aided by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India. One Mobile medical outreach unit operating in Kotagiri block aided by Tamil Nadu Health System project. Sickle Cell Anaemia screening and councelling project aided by Tamil Nadu Health System Project. 18 Balwadis in tribal settlements out of these 11 units grant aided by Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Board. Education and economic development through sponsorship programmes covering 1500 families and assisting 3000 tribal children with education in schools, universities and professional courses aided by ChildFund India. A Rehabilitation Farm colony for families from the Paniya tribal community - Farming Tea, Pepper and other spices on 104 acres of land donated by Tamil Nadu Government. Financial assistance to 600 tribal families to develop tribal waste lands with tea, coffee, spices and other suitable crops. Empowerment of tribal women through support to self help groups (SHGs) and training men and women in entrepreneurship and capacity development. 180 tribal SHGs are promoted by NAWA. Sports activities and leadership capability development among tribal youth. Documenting, preserving and promoting tribal lore, wisdom, folk skills, arts and crafts.
