Special features of the organization

Natyashala Charity Trust (Natyashala), is a pioneering cultural and educational institution implementing various schemes and projects for children with disabilities and their teachers all over India since 1981. , , Natyashala has been a mentor to the disabled and their teachers in the field of music, dance, puppetry and educational drama. It has trained about 7500 children, 7000 teachers and has so far staged over 1200 shows of 72 plays in all over India. Natyashala s use of performing arts as a therapy, as a means of rehabilitation and it s dedicated services have been applauded and appreciated by stalwarts in the field of education and culture. , , The result oriented projects implemented in urban, suburban and rural areas during last 34 years:- , , 1) Play Productions : , Over 1200 performances of 72 plays in Marathi, Hindi & English (children s & adult s plays, street plays, mime skits). All these play productions are of high standards with rich production on value based themes. , , 2) Bharatiya Vadya Zankar : Music ensembles , , 3) Creative Dramatics Workshops : , , 4) Teacher-Training Programmes in theatre arts : , , 5) State level music, dance, drama competitions involving about 100 special schools, 2000 child artists, 500 teachers and 13,000 audience members every year. , , 6) Festivals : Participation in state and national cultural festivals giving disabled artists a platform along with other national level artists and providing expertise guidance and technical assistance for organisation. , , 7) Rang Tarang : , Two week s multidimensional presentation oriented training camp-cum-cultural meet of the disabled involving over 150 children in each programme. , , 8) Natyashala has its unique theatre repertoire consisting of hearing and visually impaired artists along with other regular artists. These artists perform plays on social and educational themes at theatres, schools, rural areas and in theatre festivals. The repertoire artists also visit schools to impart training in creative dramatics and demonstrations of educational plays. Natyashala s repertory artists theatre movement has created a strong base for expanding its network in rural areas. , , 9) Publication : , 1) Gosht Tumchi Aamchi - Marathi play based on Std III History Syllabus , 2) Life on Earth - English play based on Std III History Syllabus , 3) Maharashtra Amucha - Marathi play based on Std III and IVth Geography Syllabi , Compilation of 13 volumes of 188 one act plays (Hindi, Marathi, Konkani & Gujarati) contributed by school teachers trained in Natyashala s training programmes and competitions, based on school text and moral values. , , Natyashala s child-centric multifarious social, cultural and educational activities have brought miraculous changes in the participating children and teachers and have empowered them in social, educational and economic fields , , Natyashala Charity Trust s mission of therapeutic and educational use of Performing Arts has amazingly contributed to integration and rehabilitation of children with special needs. Natyashala has given them confidence to face the challenges of today and share the hopes of tomorrow. , , The commendable work of Natyashala Charity Trust has been highly acclaimed and supported by many renowned state and national level cultural and social organizations.
