National Women s welfare Society is continuing with the efforts on primary education in Rural areas. Educating 100 Rural girls (every year), who never went to school and mainstreaming them to the government s education system, interventions for quality education in 30 government schools of the Rural areas, conducting literacy programmes for the leaders of POs and elected women representatives. Capacity building of young educators through trainings, workshops and creating awareness among the community through conventions, and children fairs etc. are activities of learning and teaching with the Rural children. Periodic review and term end examinations conducted jointly by the team of the People s Education & Cultural Resource Unit members, PO leaders and Block Education officers/ staff. The initiative of working out a model for ensuring the reach of quality education into tribal areas is still in its infancy. We had a lot of mixed experiences, learning and challenges. About the girl s education camps: initially these girls have adjusted in the camps and have gained the confidence to speak in front of many adults. After completing the 7-month camp, and assessing their competency level, they join the regular classes of the schools Run By National Women s welfare Society to continue their education.
