National Centre for Human Settlements and Environment

The organisation vision is to view all human settlements and activities holistically instead of compartmentalising them. Simultaneously, to look at every aspect of a settlements and its impact on people, their economy, their rights and entitlements, their social structure, the environment in which they live, etc. Therefore, NCHSE dedicates itself to its mission of participatory sustainable development of the area and its people with special focus on weaker section of the society for a rapid social mobilisation and significant economic development. , NCHSE is presently functioning through its six divisions. , 1. Research and socio-economic surveys division. , 2. Project Implementation division. , 3. Monitoring and evaluation division. , 4. Computers and GIS & IT application division. , 5. Consumer grievances redressal division. , 6. Training division. , The centre has so far implemented over 300 projects in various districts of Madhya Pradesh and in other states which include Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Delhi, West Bengal, Orissa, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. , We have completed watershed projects in Vidisha, Sehore, Jhabua, Ujjain, Shajapur, Hoshangabad, Dhar districts total area of 57851.52 ha. & total cost of projects Rs.2430.53 lakhs in M P during the year 1996 to 2004. Presently our organisation implementing NREGS watershed projects in Hoshangabad, Dhar, Jhabua district in MP. total area of 22636.55 ha. the total cost of projects Rs. 1810.92 lakhs. , , An NCHSE project in Jhabua on :Environmental and Soil Degradation Control, was awarded for the United Nations Environment Programmes International Award in the year 1995.
