Special features of the organization

Founded in 1975 by G. Venu with the idea of reviving and rejuvenating traditional art forms of Kerala that were on the verge of decline. An internationally renowned centre for performing arts with uncompromising standards of performance based on a rigorous training system following the Gurukula tradition. Natanakairalis troupes of Kutiyattam (Sanskrit theatre), Mohiniyattam and Pavakathakali (Glove puppetry) have performed all over India in National festivals and several International festivals in Asian, European countries and in United States several times. Natanakairali is documenting and publishing the Mudras in the classical dance and theatre forms of Kerala through the medium of dance notation. Several volumes of documented mudras have been published and disseminated through publications in Malayalam as well as in English. Natanakairali publication wing has brought out 16 books based on research conducted on subjects related to the art forms of Kerala. Natanakairali is managed by a core team of peforming artistes and masters whose main pre-occupation is teaching and performing traditional arts of Kerala.
