The 21st Century Human Empowerment Programme,The Community School at Kombuthooki,Yercaud is an Innovative Initiative by Dr.Bro.George KJ. While on a camp trip with students in 1999,he was moved by the plight of thousands of illiterate,most backward tribals from the 22 villages & nearly 100 hamlets of the interior forest region with no basic facilities.School was a distant dream for the children of this area. So,immediately he conceptualized & started a Community School with just 7 students with funds from well wishers.From 7 students in 2000,today the School has 955 students(all first generation learners).The school has achieved 100% results almost every year. A follow up plan takes care of students passing out from 12 std-to find them admissions in colleges and placements thereafter for deserving candidates. , The Holistic Education(that includes ict skills, sports & games,vocational skills,life skills,scouting,dance,music,art etc.) is imparted without any gender bias & stresses the need of Girl Education-50% of the students are girls. There is a free hostel .Incentives to the poor tribal students include food,books,uniforms,footwear ,transport and are provided free of cost. , A Community Health Centre,Non Formal Adult Education,Self Help Groups are all an integral part of the School.A green enthusiast Bro.George has installed a Humethane plant in the school & other steps to preserve the biodiversity are strictly followed. , Striving to take the 21st Century Human Empowerment programme further with the help of well wishers,friends,aid,sponsorship etc, the Community Tribal Project and -the Community Tribal School ,The Montfort Community Trust strives to narrow down the gap between the haves and the have-nots and enable the excluded and the marginilized tribals of Kombuthooki and neighbouring villages and hamlets to be , Educated, Liberated & Empowered , A 21ST CENTURY HUMAN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME
