The Manipur Women Co-ordinating Council (MWCOC) is a non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit making women s State level forum of various voluntary organizations of Manipur established in the year 1983. Before forming the Council, the leading organizations of Manipur with a high attention organized a workshop on the status of women in Manipur at Keirao Wangkhem, Imphal, Manipur.Many lady organizers from various Voluntary Organizations had a thorough discussion in the workshop and resulted to form the Women Council especially for women progress, unity and oneness of approach to bring up Social-economic solutions for the welfare of the masses. It was registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) 1976 on the 13th February 1984 and 17th May 1994 respectively. The Council also registered under Section 12A, 80G (5) (vi), PAN Permanent Account Number and TAN Tax Deduction Account Number of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The Council is recognized by Government of Manipur, Department of Social Welfare after fulfillment of the prescribed terms and conditions of eligibility. The Council has a Governing Body consisting of 11 members elected by the General Body Members. The Tenure of the Governing Body is Three years. Ms. L. Lakshmi Devi (National Youth Award Winner) the founder Secretary of the Council is the Chief Functionary. She is supported by 10 executive members.
