Special features of the organization

MAEERs MIT Group of Institutions consists of more than 50 institutes having over 40000 students shaping their careers in different vocations right from Primary Education to Post Graduate Programs in varied fields like Engineering Medicine Pharmacy Management Government Food and Technology Journalism and Broadcasting Information Technology Design Education Foreign Languages etc , Bharat Asmita National Awards in an effort to recognized the achievements of people who have excelled in their chose fields The spirit behind these awards is to highlight the achievements of dedicated and dynamic people and inspire the youth to emulate them These annual National level Awards were constituted in the year 2005 , ROBOCON INDIA is a breeding ground for young engineers to exhibit their creativity and innovative skills It started in 2002 wherein with the efforts put in by MIT Pune and Doordarshan and the contest has garnered a national interest with the participation escalating to 55 teams in 2009 MAEERs MIT is proud to record that the International Robocon 2008 was organized and hosted at MIT Pune in collaboration with Doordarshan Prasar Bharati besides conducting the National Level Robotic contest for the last 5 years. , A mega Health camp was organized at Urban Health Centre of MIMER medical College from 27th to 29th March 2009 The camp got an overwhelming response as 311 people availed the facility 182 patients were referred to Dr Bhausaheb Sardesai Rural Hospital for further investigations and treatment , On MIT campus the activity of NCC was started in the year of 1995 Apart from regular activities the social service and exposure is an important aspect of training Thus we started with the activity of blood donation on the campus and decided to have the activity of rotational blood donation drives where a group of 10 15 enthusiastic and responsible donors visit a particular blood bank to donate blood , Another social service project is being carried out at CIPLA Palliative Care and Training Centre This center treats advanced stage terminally ill cancer patients totally free of cost Two troop members work at CIPLA everyday which is done in rotation , The MIT School of Government organized the oneday national conference on Special Economic Zones The Governmental Authorities Private Players Economists and representatives of the farmers discussed the SEZ Issue , On the eve of the Worlds AIDS Day each year MITSOG students organize street plays all over the city of Pune Flyers on information regarding HIVAIDS is distributed across the city , On the 15th of July 2009 a group of 23 students from India visited the office of Global Human Rights Defence GHRD organized a workshop for these students who are in the Masters Program at the MIT School of Government , Efforts are made to encourage students to participate in various social cultural and sports activities MIT has successfully organized several sports tournaments including Inter Engineering Athletic Meet Cricket Basketball Volleyball Table Tennis tournaments Zonal level Boxing Badminton Chess tournaments and Inter Professional College Volley ball Basketball tounaments etc , Four Students of MIT Gurukul were offered Diploma and research stay in the Institute of Physics which is a part of the First Step to Nobel Prize in Physics
