To promote theatre movement in Manipur, to revive and preserve Manipuri Folk Music, Folk dance and Folk drama. To set up institutions to provide training in the field of theatre, actor s training, study of stage-craft and production of plays. To encourage and assist production of new plays by awarding prizes etc. , For the past 40 years, LAC has continuously strived to achieve a high standard of theatre production and this has reaped rich dividends in the form of various awards, laurels won by the Centre. Without discarding the traditional theatre style of Manipur.So far, LAC has produced over 70 plays of different genre. , The flagship play of LAC Khongjom Laan was chosen by the AIR Imphal and DDK Imphal for broadcasting and telecasting every year on the auspicious Khongjom Day, 23rd April. , LAC has participated in international and national level drama competitions and has won many awards.
